The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder - Skipping a Year to Focus on Quality

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder - Skipping a Year to Focus on Quality

Everything was turned upside down in 2020, and change became a major part of the automobile industry as well. As a result of materials and labour shortages, redesigns were pushed back, new models were scrapped, and other decisions had to be made.

One decision that was made by Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan was to completely skip over the 2021 model year for its Pathfinder SUV. With a new redesign in the works, it made sense for Nissan to focus on perfecting the Pathfinder instead of sending it out half-finished in pandemic times. Instead, Nissan will introduce the 2022 Pathfinder to the world a little earlier than planned.

New Features

The Nissan Pathfinder has always been a solid, well-appointed midsize SUV. With three rows of seats, it offers itself as a minivan replacement for drivers that want passenger space without sacrificing personal style. For 2022, the Pathfinder receives a completely new look and upgraded technology.

Design

Shedding its previously frumpy design, the Pathfinder is now rugged and modern with a wider front end, bolder stance, and slimmer headlights and taillights. While the old Pathfinder models were more rounded, the 2022 model goes for a more truck-like shape.

While the exterior redesign is impressive, the interior redesign really takes the cake. Outdated materials and looks were thrown out and a luxurious interior was introduced for 2022. The Pathfinder now features leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof, all with space and maneuverability for up to eight passengers.

Performance

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder boasts a 284-horsepower V6 engine, nine-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive as standard. For drivers that want the best traction on all terrain, the Intelligent 4x4 all-wheel-drive system offers seven different drive modes to match conditions.

In addition to the 284 horsepower, the Pathfinder also offers 259 lb-ft of torque, which provides for a maximum towing capability of 2,721 kg.

Technology

Nissan could not upgrade the design of the Pathfinder without upgrading the technology systems, so the 2022 Pathfinder features the latest NissanConnect software, an 8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as a digital 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Driver-assist technology was also upgraded on the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, which receives Nissan's ProPILOT Assist and the Safety Shield 360 suite of features, including intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear intelligent emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, and high beam assist.

From frumpy to fantastic, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is worth the wait. If you want to know more about the new Pathfinder, click here for updates.
