Nissan Review: 2021 Armada Concept

Nissan Review: 2021 Armada Concept

The Armada is Nissan's flagship SUV, boasting family-friendly comfort and size combined with genuine off-road excellence. Seating up to eight with plenty of cargo space behind, it's also packed with advanced tech to give a truly modern driving experience.

And while the Armada is already highly successful, there's always room for improvement, and the 2021 refresh pushes the model to even greater heights. Find out why this full-size SUV is such a winner with our 2021 Nissan Armada overview.

Refreshed Exterior

For 2021, the Nissan Armada's exterior has been extensively redesigned to make it sleeker, chunkier, and altogether more eye-catching. There's a new angular grille paired with new front and rear bumpers, a new hood design, and new advanced LED headlights and taillights. And as if to announce the modernity of the design, the 2021 Armada is the first vehicle to sport the company's new logo, designed to take the brand into the digital age.

Under the Hood

But the 2021 Armada is about much more than great looks. The heavy-duty frame is propelled by a meaty 5.6L V8 Endurance engine pushing out 400 horsepower, the highest figure in its class, coupled with 413lb-ft of torque for excellent acceleration and gradient performance. The output is passed through an advanced seven-speed automatic transmission to either rear-wheel or intelligent all-wheel drive, with gear ratios optimized for the best balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

Towing Capacity

One of the great characteristics of previous models was their high-end towing capacity, and the 2021 Armada maintains the standards you'd expect. A maximum rating of up to 3,855kg is backed up by optional Trailer Sway Control, which automatically balances brake operation to keep the towing experience smooth, steady, and safe.

Interior, Advanced Safety, and Driver Assist

The Armada's upscale feature interior has a strong emphasis on advanced technology to complement the spacious comfort of the layout. All models include a 12.3" infotainment touchscreen as standard, featuring a high-resolution 1920 x 720 display for clearer, crisper graphics that are easy to read in an instant.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto take care of smartphone integration, while onboard Wi-Fi connectivity makes map updates and system upgrades easy while on the move.

A new 7" driver-assist display gives easy, prominent access to a suite of essential systems that make the Armada one of the safest, most secure large SUVs available today. Whether you're on a long highway journey or tackling the challenges of the trail, the Armada's tech is there to back you up. Key standard and available highlights include:

  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
  • Rear automatic braking with intelligent backup collision prevention.
  • Lane departure warnings with intelligent lane intervention.
  • Driver alertness monitoring.
